Affordable Pulsed DC TIG welder

This summer, I've been testing a cheap chinese DC welder that listed all the nice features of the much more expensive name brand welders (HF start, pre/post gas, stable arc, low start amps, advanced pulse with % on time, % background amps and pulse frenquency from 0.5 to 500Hz). For a total price tag incl VAT & shipping under 1000€ you have a complete kit to start welding bike frames (DC welder, ground cable, heavy but usable WP26 torch and decent foot pedal). This is a DC only unit, which means you can only weld steel, stainless and titanium, not aluminum (for an AC/DC verson, you'd need to add 300-400€). The welding quality is very nice, better than I had anticipated, reliability is difficult to estimate at this point but these welders come with a 2 years warranty to give you a little peace of mind. If you want to start welding properly on a budget, this is a good machine. I'll keep one in the workshop for future students to test. You can find the machine under various brand names, they are not exact clones, but pretty similar, here are two sources I know so far:

Cet été j'ai testé un poste a souder TIG DC chinois pas cher qui liste toutes les caractéristiques avancées des postes de marque beaucoup plus cher (amorcage HF, pre/post gaz, arc stable, faible ampère de départ, mode pulsé avancé avec % temps chaud, % courant de base et fréquence de pulsation de 0.5 a 500 Hz). Pour un prix total en dessous de 1000€ vous avez le poste DC, la cable de masse, une torche lourde mais utilisable et une pédale potable). C'est un poste uniquement DC, pour souder acier, inox et titane mais pas l'alu (pour un poste AC/DC il faut ajouter 300/400 eur). La qualité des soudures est bonne, meilleure que je l'imaginais, la fiabilité est diffcile a mesurer pour le moment mais ces postes sont en général garantie 2 ans si ca vous aide a mieux dormir la nuit. Si vous voulez commencer a souder sérieusement avec un budget serré, c'est une bonne machine. J'en garde une dans l'atelier pour que les futurs stagiaires puissent tester. Vous pouvez trouver ce genre de machine sous différentes marques, ce n'est pas des copies parfaites mais très proches quand meme, voilà deux exemples que je connais:

11s cassette on 10s freehub ?

When standards change so fast that you can't keep up, it takes a little tweaking to make things work again. Like this SRAM 11 speed cassette (PG-1130) that just wouldn't fit on that Shimano freehub. You can go two ways about it: listen to this meditation tape or pull out your lathe and take out that annoying millimeter from the back side.

Quand les standards changent tellement vite que tu n'arrives pas a suivre, il faut parfois bricoler pour que ca marche. Comme cette cassette SRAM 11 vitesses (PG-1130) qui ne veut pas tenir sur une roue libre Shimano. Il y a deux choix possibles: écouter ces pensées méditatives ou sortir son tour et virer ce foutu milimètre en trop au cul de la cassette.
